The season is finally underway for the Rossoneri Under 18's. On Sunday, the 18-year-old's played their first official match: 2-2 was the final result on Atalanta's pitch. After a complicated first half, which ended in a two-goal deficit, the reaction and comeback in the second half salvaged a point which boosted the team's morale and confidence ahead of the upcoming fixtures.
At the helm of the young Rossoneri, the continuation of the work carried out last year by Christian Terni. Renewed ambitions and motivation for coach and players, who finished last year's championship in tenth place, thus excluded from the possibility of competing in the playoffs. To certify the efforts and results obtained in previous years, the presence of several boys who are currently in the group with Abate's Primavera team stands out.
The format of the league is a significant difference from last season. The single group in place last year was in fact replaced by two groups - A and B - consisting of 11 and 10 teams respectively. AC Milan has been placed in group B together with Atalanta, Cagliari, Hellas Verona, Inter, Monza, Parma, Spal, Torino and Venezia.
The two rounds, to be played in rounds of one-off, home and away matches, will be followed by a final round, during which the four highest ranked teams will compete for the national title. The primary goal, however, is definitely to grow both individually and at team level in order to prepare for a future among the adults. Good luck guys!
