The Primavera Femminile side ended the year on a high after a defeat in the Derby, culminating in a third-place position in the table, level on points with Juventus. Today, with the year over, Coach Corti's girls are once again firmly in third place, behind Juventus but above city rivals Inter, with 22 points in the 10 matches of the first part of the season.
It's the Primavera 1 for Captain Renzotti and the team, the first under a new format that ended the division on a regional basis and introduced a single league. It started with a draw (1-1) at home against Fiorentina. From there on, they won five consecutive games, including the impressive win at Juventus. This was followed by the loss in the Derby against Inter, which seemed to knock the Rossoneri's confidence, just before the form that closed out 2022.
But AC Milan showed character and were able to fight back, overcoming San Marino (5-0) and Sassuolo (2-1) at home, only to lose to top side Roma at the PUMA House of Football. In the ninth game of the season, Renzotti's goal was not enough for the Rossoneri, who struggled and showed the right aggressiveness but were forced to give way to the Giallorossi, who lead the league undefeated.
Cesarini and Valentina Cappa's goals in the last match at Sassuolo restored momentum and confidence in the Rossoneri group, gaining three crucial points. They have the second best defence in the league - 10 goals conceded in 10 matches like Juventus - and the 2.8 goals per game average can only leave Coach Corti satisfied with the start. Now they have the break, which will allow the necessary time to work with the right mentality on the pros and cons so far, while waiting for the restart in mid-January.
