The win (7-0) away at Lazio allowed Ganz's Rossonere to secure first place in Group F, which sends AC Milan to the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia, where they will face Fiorentina. The Viola finished top of Group E, ahead of Verona and Genoa, and the match will give the Rossonere the chance to reach a semi-final that they have consistently reached in recent seasons, where the winner of Roma v Pomigliano will be waiting for one of the two teams.

The group stage, ending on 6 points with 9 goals scored and 0 conceded, has given the Rossonere lots of positives. In particular, the convincing away win at Formello saw seven different players score, eight in total in the competition if we add Mesjasz's goal against Ternana, with Piemonte on two goals. From Soffia - with a goal and two assists - to Vigilucci and M. Dubcová, even those who had found less space showed excellent physical condition and the necessary desire.

The Rossonere have already faced Panico's Viola twice in the league: a 3-1 defeat at the PUMA House of Football and a convincing win in Sesto Fiorentino, 6-1 the final score. The double-header therefore appears to be hard-fought at the starting line, but before the first match of the quarter-finals, AC Milan will have to face two league sides to consecrate themselves firmly among the Top Five, and thus secure the qualification to the next Poule Scudetto.

Parma - on 15 January at home - and Sampdoria on the 21st will be the opponents of Ganz's AC Milan in the next two games of the Women's Serie A. If Parma, currently at the bottom of the table, are looking for points to recover and move away from the threat of relegation, Cincotta's Sampdoria will want to shorten the gap with the Rossonere - currently at 9 points - to reopen the discussion about qualification amongst the top five. The two Coppa Italia challenges will also be flanked by first-leg games: the Derby after the first leg on 24 or 25 January and Juventus v AC Milan before the return leg, scheduled for 7 or 8 February.
