PRIMAVERA: LOOKING BEYOND RESULTS

The U19s aren't on a great run, but it's clear that the players are developing

Contrary to what they wanted, the Primavera weren't able to pick up their first win of 2023 against Sassuolo. At the Stadio Ricci, the Rossoneri fell to a second consecutive defeat after their loss against Juventus, thus prolonging a difficult spell in terms of results.

Absences certainly aren't helping a young side made up of numerous players who are new to the Primavera setup. This partly explains the current difficulties: the philosophy of playing youngsters above their age group inevitably results in lots of ups and downs performance-wise.

Nevertheless, it's clear that the players are developing. For example, attacking wingers Scotti and Sia, both of whom were born in 2006, are becoming increasingly important figures for the Primavera as they get used to the level, something that Bakoune had to do from the start of the campaign. Many youngsters born in 2005 are also acquitting themselves very well for Coach Abate's team.

It is thus necessary to look beyond results, especially as the team are forging a clear identity. The Rossoneri next have an opportunity to pick up three points on Sunday when they face second-place Frosinone, who sit two points behind Roma and level with Lecce, Sassuolo and Torino in the table.
