PRIMAVERA, HAPPY EUROPEAN OUTING

Five wins, two draws, 13 goals scored and five conceded: a great team's journey, that of AC Milan Primavera in the Youth League. For the first time in the club's history, the Rossoneri have reached the quarter-finals of Europe's top competition for youth teams, and will attempt to reach the Final Four in Nyon against Atlético Marid at the PUMA House of Football. The result would be exceptional in Italian football: only Roma in 2015 and Juventus in 2022, in fact, have reached the latter stages of the tournament since its inception in 2013/14, both times going out in the Semifinals.

Regardless of what will happen in mid-March, the continental journey of Abate's team deserves only applause. A series of great performances in both phases of the game, with three victories coming in the second leg (Chelsea, Dinamo Zagreb and Ruh Lviv) that also highlighted the team's ability to manage important moments. A truly formative experience for a group that is among the youngest in the Primavera Championship.

"In Europe, the boys always manage to give us incredible emotions," said Coach Ignazio Abate after the win over Ruh Lviv. "And let's not forget that in the Youth League the age gap decreases as there can only be three players from 2003: we manage to stay in it better. The boys are able to show their qualities, in the league with 2-3 years of difference it is tougher". The issue of age is not to be underestimated, also taking into consideration the progress of the young Rossoneri's season.

Some of Abate's side's best performances of the season, such as the league victories over Cagliari, Udinese and Atalanta, have in fact come immediately after a European game, proof of a group capable of fuelling the positive momentum generated by the Youth League games. Waiting for the Quarter-final against Atlético Madrid, the hope is that this trend can be continued in the next three important appointments in the Primavera 1, against Cagliari, Bologna and Empoli.
