They are one of three Rossoneri teams with the Scudetto on their shirts for the 2022/23 season. Roberto Bertuzzo's men's Under 15s recorded an important 1-1 draw in the derby against Inter last week, leaving them in second place and already guaranteed a spot in the national round of 16.
The seven-point gap between the Rossoneri and third place means they will definitely avoid the tricky straight knock-out playoff round. Riccardo Pinessi's goal wasn't enough for the Rossoneri to beat Inter and avenge the defeat earlier in the season as Vukaj equalised late on for the Nerazzurri. But that Inter goal was only the ninth that our boys have conceded all season, as the Rossoneri have the best defensive record of any side in all four groups.
9 goals conceded and 59 scored for a difference of +50, which is the second-best record of any team in the national competitions (only Empoli have a better goal difference this season: +54). The Rossoneri have had 15 different players score this season, with Christian Comotto the current leading scorer with 10 goals, ahead of the aforementioned Pinessi. These are good numbers for a group that is growing in confidence and standard, despite the weight of the tricolore on their chest, won last year by this season's Under 16s.
The final two matchday of the group - in April against Udinese and Südtirol - will see our boys looking to claim top spot and get a better draw in the direct knock-outs. Taking a look elsewhere, Empoli are already guaranteed to get out of group c and the two captital-city clubs, Lazio and Roma, from group D. Group A is incredibly balanced, with just three points separating Juventus, Como and Genoa, who are hoping to claim the two spots.
