A perfect Sunday. Coach Baldo's AC Milan Under 16s won the derby 2-1 away from home, 'avenging' the defeat in the first match last November. The Rossoneri won 2-1 thanks to goals from Batistini and Sala, and held out for more than a half despite playing with 10.
The success brings with it two other excellent pieces of news: mathematical qualification to the Scudetto finals and the consolidation of the first position, 4 points ahead of Atalanta. If a win comes in the next game against Udinese, then first place would also be confirmed.
That November derby was - and still remains - the only defeat for a team that, with two games to go in the regular season, has 41 points from 16 matches and leads Group B ahead of Atalanta and Inter, who now trail by 13 points.
Qualification for the finals is the first goal for the 2007s, winners of last year's U15 championship and confirmed as a top level team. AC Milan v Udinese on 2 April and Südtirol v AC Milan on the 16th will finish this first phase, before the Playoffs to get underway.
