A great away win to take a small step towards the Scudetto semifinals. June has begun in excellent fashion for the U15 women’s team, who beat Juventus 2-1 in the first leg of their quarter-final showdown. Even though there’s still the second leg to play, Coach Ilenia Prati's side find themselves in an excellent position.
“It was an even affair with highs and lows,” said the Rossonere coach. “Juventus started really well, and we had to adjust. We then took the lead and managed the game well before scoring a second. During the third period, we wasted a few chances, and they were able to pull one back.”
Prati continued: “Everything still needs to be written in the return leg. We have a small advantage, but it won’t be easy: Juventus are a great team, and we’ll have to give everything.” A difficult task awaits, but the Rossonere will be full of optimism knowing what they’ve done in 2022/23. After flying through their regional group, the U15s won 13 and drew one of their 14 matches during the interregional phase.
They will soon be put to the test again, with the quarter-final second leg set to be played on the weekend of 17-18 June. At stake is a place in the Scudetto Final Four, for which Napoli (a 4-1 win against Sassuolo), Roma (a 2-1 victory away to San Marino Academy) and Inter (a 3-1 success against Atalanta on the road) are all in a good position to qualify.
