PLAYER PROFILE: ALIA GUAGNI

Experience, charisma and quality in abundance. Developing and coming through the ranks in Florence, in footballing terms, before announcing herself abroad as well with Atlético Madrid, Alia Guagni joined the Rossonere in January 2022, being backed up by some impressive numbers and a wealth of experience behind her: 145 goals in 282 appearances with Firenze - who later became Fiorentina - and a key player in the Viola's successes of one Scudetto, two Coppa Italia and a Supercoppa Italiana. Instead, with the Colchoneras she spent a season and a half there, winning a Spanish Supercoppa.

The number 37 has also left her mark on the National side. Since making her debut in 2007, she has won 85 caps so far. And now she is here with AC Milan for a "new turning point in my life". With these words, she presented herself to our fans. Motivated and ambitious, Alia has always tested herself at the highest level and done her talking on the pitch. Her impact with the Rossonere shirt has been noticable and instant, with two goals and five assists only summing up in part her contribution to the side in her first six months as a Milanista.

Last season (2022/23) saw two sides: a high level in the first part, and unlucky and complicated in the second, due to an injury that kept her out for the entire run-in. But Alia wasn't defeated and worked hard to get back on the pitch even stronger. After an excellent pre-season, the full 90 minutes played on matchday 1 against Roma officially saw her return and importance to Coach Ganz's line-up. 

In what was a tough end to the season, she did though renew her contract with the Club, officially extending her time here in May 2023. "Continuing with AC Milan is a really great feeling," she said at the time, while her words today - an exclusive - point towards the future and the next objective, starting with Napoli. The aim is three points and to gather some momentum in the league campaign, taking one step at a time in attempting to dream and reach important results, and always giving maximum effort.
