For Coach Ignazio Abate's Primavera team, it's time for the Primavera Coppa Italia. On Wednesday at 13:00 CET at Viola Park (live on Sportitalia, channel 60), the Rossoneri U19 will face Fiorentina in a single-leg Quarterfinal, aiming for a spot among the top four in the tournament. The Primavera’s journey in the competition has seen victories over Virtus Entella (7-0) in the First Round of 32, Sampdoria (2-3) in the Second Round, and Empoli (0-4) in the Third Round. Now, it's the Quarterfinals and, most importantly, Fiorentina, a team with whom we have a tradition to redeem, especially in the Italian Cup. Fiorentina eliminated us in the 2019/20 (3-1), 2020/21 (2-1), and 2021/22 (4-3) editions of the Primavera Coppa Italia.

The Primavera side has already faced Daniele Galloppa's team in the league on 30 September 30 last year. It was matchday 5, and the 1-1 draw with Victor's goal halting the Primavera’s positive streak of four consecutive wins in Primavera 1 TIM. Overall, a victory against Fiorentina has been missing for several matches in all competitions, and this could be the right opportunity to reverse the trend.

Fiorentina currently holds an unprecedented 15th position in the table with 14 points against our 30 points, but they have won the Primavera TIM Cup in four consecutive seasons (from 2018/19 to 2021/22) with Alberto Aquilani at the helm. The winner between Fiorentina and AC Milan will face either Roma or Sassuolo, while on the other side of the bracket, the Quarterfinals are Lazio v Napoli and Torino v Inter. The Semifinals will be played with home and away legs on 31 January and 21 February.

The year 2024 started with a victory away at Frosinone, reinforcing our second position in the league, level on points with Roma. A win that injected new energy into a group that witnessed the first-team debuts of many of its members: Jan-Carlo Simić, already against Monza, followed by Álex Jiménez, Kevin Zeroli, Chaka Traorè, who accompanied Davide Bartesaghi, now a regular in Pioli's squad since the beginning of the season.
