After 15 games, it was Brescia who interrupted the Rossoneri Under-17s' incredible run of successive victories. It had to happen sooner or later, even if the hope of perfection perhaps came to mind given the first half of the season and the start of the second part, in what has been a dominating campaign so far. It was an afternoon that seemingly looked like it was going to go the same way, until a late comeback deep in stoppage-time from the home side saw the game end 2-2, and obviously with some regret.
At the Giacomini in Prevalle, it was a scrappy game, more complicated than expected thanks to a stubborn opponent, who sit just below the playoff zone and who were particularly inspired due to it being a Lombard derby. Despite going ahead close to half-time, thanks to goals from Liberali (a deflection was decisive) and Mavriqi (thanks to an error by the goalkeeper), Coach Renna's side let their two-goal lead slip in the second half.
A hard-fought, combative affair, the match changed mainly on one episode: Liberali's sending-off. Shortly after, the home team reduced the deficit from a corner. However, despite being down to ten men, the Rossoneri defended well and coped with everything, but just when it seemed over a penalty was awarded and, consequently, slotted home at the death. It was a shame, but no problem, we now look ahead calmly.
It is a draw that can be useful, as it will measure the strength of the group even more in terms of their reaction. We will see the answer on the pitch, on Sunday 28 January, again on the road, this time at Cittadella. In the reverse fixture, AC Milan won 2-0, with Comotto bagging a brace. The table remains good reading, top and with a 14-point lead, even if the technical and moral values - product of an outstanding performance overall - are the Rossoneri Under-17s' greatest pride.
