    MILAN FUTURO'S POSITIVE LEGACY

It was a new start and a season of constant growth within the whole group. There were many changes and many improvements in the team. AC Milan women finished in fifth place, in a season that we can look back at optimistically, with our hard work in training at the PUMA House of Football coming out in games' performances. There were also a range of good results against the big sides this campaign: from the three derby comebacks against Inter (including the one at San Siro), to wins against Roma and Fiorentina.

This Rossonere team, has been bolstered, not so much by new arrivals (the only new signings are Emma Koivisto and Nikola Karczewska) but mostly girls promoted from the league-winning Primavera side. From Giorgia Arrigoni, recognised as Serie A's best youngster, to two other youth graduates like Nadine Sorelli and Monica Renzotti, our promoted young talents have become pillars of our set-up over the season.

Suzanne Bakker has played her cards well, and in her first year as Rossonere manager, she managed to get the best out of all 24 players throughout the season. Two of them - Julie Piga and Evelyn Ijeh - played every game, with 29 appearances in total (26 in the league and 3 in Coppa Italia). Marta Mascarello and Emma Koivisto also didn't miss any games, but there were so many standout players throughout the season.

Knowing this, it should come to no surprise that 14 different players got on the scoresheet this year. It was indeed Ijeh who finished as top scorer, having the best season as a non-Italian player in our colours (12 goals and 8 assists). But we must also point out Dompig and Arrigoni's six goals, "super sub" Karczewska's four goals off the bench, and all the other girls with more than one goal this campaign (Cernoia, Koivisto, Marinelli, Piga and Stokić). It is a great basis to build on next year, for a season that will be full of new opportunities that we will look to make the most of.
