WOMEN'S PRIMAVERA AHEAD OF THE VIAREGGIO WOMEN'S CUP 2026

Spring is approaching, and a classic event in international youth football is about to return. From 9 to 12 March, the 7th Viareggio Women's Cup will take place, a competition that has seen AC Milan Women reach the Final in the last four editions. The victories in 2023 and 2024 (in both cases against the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti U19), and the defeats in 2022 against Brøndby IF Women and in 2025 against Juventus Women: the Rossonere have always been among the main protagonists.

In the 2026 edition, the girls coached by Matteo Zago arrive on the back of a strong league season, consistently among the top teams in a competitive table with many sides fighting for a place in the Scudetto Finals scheduled for late spring. Two of our domestic opponents – Juventus Women, the holders of the trophy, and Fiorentina Women – will also take part in the Viareggio Women's Cup. The tournament line-up will be completed by Livorno Women, the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti U19 representative side and the Americans of Westchester United.

It will be precisely these last two teams who will face AC Milan Women in Group 2 (with Juventus Women, Fiorentina Women and Livorno Women making up Group 1), with the matches scheduled between Monday 9 and Wednesday 11 March. The winners of the two groups will meet in the final set for Thursday 12 March, a match that will be played at the Stadio dei Pini in Viareggio, the same venue that will host the opening match and the Final of the men’s Viareggio Cup.

“It’s a phase of the season in which relationships are really starting to solidify, both on the pitch and between the players,” said Coach Zago. “That’s down to the girls’ daily commitment in facing the challenges and demands of recent months, viewing them as opportunities for individual growth and as part of building a true team mentality. Alongside a shared language, a common playing identity is also emerging – something that must give us awareness and confidence ahead of the challenges that lie ahead.”
