Rebić-André Silva was only the final act in the summer transfer window. In 2010, there was another exchange in August as Marco Borriello departed and Robinho came in. That day, the Brazilian spent time in a garage on via Turati while waiting for news about whether Borriello would stay or go.
It seemed that the forward was going to Juventus but it wasn’t possible to reach an agreement. In the late afternoon, Silvio Berlusconi approved the signing of Robinho even if Borriello didn’t leave. An hour after that call, an agreement was reached between Marco and Roma for a new adventure for the player and Milan.
There were a large number of deals at the end of the 2014 summer window. Everything seemed set for the Biabiany-Zaccardo exchange with the winger heading to Milanello and the defender to Emilia. Biabiany failing his medical however meant that a deal couldn’t be reached and the Italian World Cup winner stayed with the Rossoneri. Milan still needed a winger though and there was €5.5 million to spend after a young Bryan Cristante was sold to Benfica. Giacomo Bonaventura’s agent called Casa Milan and it was the perfect solution. Today, Jack is still a key player for Milan five years on although he’s looking to get back up to peak condition at the moment.
The final hours of the transfer window are frantic and often crucial. With the deadline looming, solutions can be quickly found after weeks of impasses. It was the case again for Ante Rebić as he moved from Eintracht Frankfurt to the Rossoneri, with André Silva moving the other way after a decent display against Brescia.
