In Italy, Boxing Day is known as 'Il giorno di Santo Stefano', and the Rossoneri players, directors and fans will no doubt be celebrating with their families. It's a name which reminds us of Stefano Pioli, who is enjoying time with his loved ones before the team return to training at Milanello and take to the pitch again at San Siro for their next league fixture on 6 January. But our Coach isn't the only Stefano that has been associated with AC Milan throughout the Club's history. Indeed, many Diavolo fans may well remember Stefano Eranio, a midfielder who won eight trophies while at the Club: three Scudetto titles, three Supercoppa Italiana trophies, one Champions League and one UEFA Supercup. One player who was involved in the Match of the Century in Athens on 18 May 1994 was Stefano Nava, another man who enjoyed tremendous trophy success.
Furthermore, Rossoneri supporters in their 50s would be happy to send festive wishes to Stefano Bombardino Cuoghi, someone who still follows AC Milan's fortunes with great affection. Those in their 40s certainly won't have forgotten Stefano Carobbi, the blonde-haired defender who played during Arrigo Sacchi's first spell at the Club. More recently, there's been Stephan El Shaaraway, a slight variation on 'Stefano' but a popular figure amongst the AC Milan fans. He's currently plying his trade in China. We also send our best wishes to Stefano Gori and Stefano Pastrello, two players who came through the Rossoneri's youth ranks. Particularly during the festive period, it's only right to also think about and mention those who are sadly no longer with us, like Stefano Borgonovo, Stefano Chiodi and Stefano Salvatori. They will never be forgotten.
