There are three seasons where 1-0 wins in Brescia helped contribute to Scudetto success. And two of these victories only came about because the Rossoneri struck late at the Stadio Rigamonti: Pancaro in the 81st minute in January 2004 and Robinho with 82 minutes on the clock in April 2011.
Prior to these fixtures, Fabio Capello’s men headed to Brescia in January 1993 to play their final away fixture before the halfway stage of the season. They would have to play a strong Rondinelle team with three Romanians in their ranks: Lucescu was named on the bench, while Hagi and Raducioiu both took to the pitch. The latter was sent off almost immediately after using an expletive before the Rossoneri promptly took the lead after just 20 minutes through Massaro. The hosts weren’t able to respond against an AC Milan side who would go on to celebrate title number 13 after the return fixture against Brescia at the end of the season.
In January 2004, history repeated itself: Brescia were once again AC Milan’s opponents for their final away game before the first half of the season came to a close. It was a time when AC Milan would frequently deploy a Christmas tree formation, with Rui Costa and Kaká lining up behind Shevchenko. The Rondinelle were reduced to ten men in this game too, although Dainelli’s red card came late on. That day, the Diavolo’s goal came through Pancaro after De Biasi’s team had managed to frustrate Carlo Ancelotti’s men for the majority of the match.
AC Milan’s last trip to Brescia was an unforgettable one. It was the Rossoneri’s third-to-last away fixture of the Serie A season and took place on Easter Saturday in 2011. Robinho scored a great goal and Abbiati produced a magnificent save to deny Alino Diamanti as the Rossoneri closed in on another Scudetto title.
