Stefano Pioli is preparing to face Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico as coach of AC Milan. The Rossoneri coach spent two important seasons with the Biancocelesti from 2014 to 2016, which meant that Pioli was in the dugout as the Rossoneri’s opposition twice at the Olimpico: first against Inzaghi and then against Mihajlović.

Both games ended with the same scoreline, 3-1, but the first was in favour of Lazio, the second in favour of AC Milan.

In the 2014/15 campaign, the season in which Pioli’s Lazio qualified for the Champions League play-offs, Lazio v AC Milan was scheduled for the first matchday of the return set of fixtures. The Rossoneri, who had won the first fixture 3-1 at San Siro managed to go into half-time with the lead. The ex-Roma player, Ménez, scored that opening goal, but Lazio continued to attack and Parolo’s equaliser to start the second half proved to be the catalyst for the Biancocelesti's comeback, which was secured by Klose’s goal and another from Parolo.

The temporal jump from January 2015 to November 2015 isn’t big, but it’s still enough time for plenty to happen regarding the football world. Ten months on, a much-changed Lazio and a revolutionised AC Milan produced a very different game at the Olimpico. That time it was the Rossoneri who won 3-1, with goals from ex-Roma players Bertolacci and Mexes before Bacca finished things off. Kishna’s goal for Lazio in the dying minutes was too little too late.
