BOLOGNA v AC MILAN: TIME MACHINE

Three previous games all with quality goals in common: a look at the past between 2004 and 2010

From the 0-2 in 2004 to the 0-3 in 2010, separated by the four scored in 2009: between first-timers and top scorers, the Rossoneri and the Rossoblù have created many special moments in the over 180 matches played between the sides. As we look forward to a new chapter with the upcoming Serie A fixture between Bologna and AC Milan - scheduled for Saturday 15 April at 15:00 CEST -, let's relive three previous matches and just as many Rossoneri victories away to Bologna with our Time Machine.

1 FEBRUARY 2004: ROSSONERI IN FULL FLIGHT
The season followed the European triumph in Manchester. At the beginning of February, Coach Ancelotti's Rossoneri were in the Scudetto race with Capello's Roma and at the Dall'Ara they had the chance to gain points on their  rivals who lost at Brescia in the early match. As happened so often, Shevchenko opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a well-placed header from Cafu's cross. Several chances fell to both sides without leading to any further goals, until Tomasson sealed the win in the 89th minute with a delightful finish from the edge of the area. 2-0 win in Bologna and the lead over Roma, on the way to Scudetto number 17.

25 JANUARY 2009: BECKHAM GETS HIS FIRST AS WE HIT FOUR
From behind to a thumping. Matchday 20 of Serie A - the 2008/09 season - coincided with a first in an AC Milan shirt: in the 59th minute it was David Beckham who made it 4-1 and scored his first Rossoneri goal with a powerful and precise right-footed shot at the near post, assisted by Kaká. But before that came, in order, Seedorf's equaliser following Antonioli's opener, Kaká's penalty and the Brazilian ace's brace with a precise left-footer, all before half-time. A brilliant afternoon in a season where AC Milan finished third.

12 DECEMBER 2010: IMAGINATION IN COMAND
A Bologna side in fine form and an AC Milan side in the hunt for three points. A Sunday clash on matchday 16 of Serie A promised to be full of danger for Allegri's Rossoneri, who came to Emilia with the powerful trio of Boateng, Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimović. And it was the three attacking men who decided the match at the Dall'Ara with a goal each. The opener was the result of an Ibra-Boateng interchange, with the former providing the assist for the number 27's finish in the 9th minute of the game, and in the 35th minute the lead was doubled: Boateng's through ball and Robinho coolly slotted past Viviano. From then on it was a stroll, with the Swede's strike in the 60th minute sealing the win. The three points meant that the Rossoneri ended 2010 top of the league, where they stayed all the way until the end of the season.
