    HistoryApril 17th 2026

The history between AC Milan and Frosinone is brief but intense. The two sides have met twice at San Siro in Serie A, one of which we'll discover today: the most recent, the only positive. The 2016 game ended in a last-minute draw. In 2019, however, the Rossoneri won 2-0. It was a very particular game, and it was Krzysztof Piątek to open the scoring.

The Polish forward's time in our shirt was also brief but intense. He arrived at AC Milan in January 2019 during a busy transfer window that saw Higuaín leave and Paquetá arrive. AC Milan found a replacement in Piątek. After starting his career at Lechia Dzierżoniów, Zagłębie Lubin and more importantly, Cracovia, his impact in Italy was devastating: 19 goals in 21 games. An impressive record that follows him to Milanello. He doesn't need a settling-in period with the Rossoneri, he bagged a brace on his debut which secured their passage to the semi-final of the Italian Cup. Then, he just kept scoring, 8 goals in the space of 2 months, securing his spot as the team's striker. Until Frosinone.

On 19 May 2019, Gattuso's squad played a big one. With two games to go until the end of the season, Abate and his teammates had the opportunity to momentarily take the 4th spot, keeping their Champions League dreams alive. Abate bid farewell to San Siro before his retirement, but this game didn't look good for him, since his foul at the start of the second half gave the opposition a penalty. Donnarumma, however, kept Ciano out and the game goalless. AC Milan changed it up from there to take the lead in the 57th minute through Krzysztof (his 22nd goal in 2019) who managed to deflect Borini's shot behind Bardi. In the 66th minute, Suso's beautiful free-kick gave them another goal. There were sighs of relief, but the fixtures that evening and the following weekend brought it crashing down: Inter and Atalanta slowed down, but not enough. AC Milan had to settle for 5th and the Europa League despite giving it their all.
