It's two from two! The Azzurre continue to surprise at the Women's World Cup. Following the comeback win against Australia, Italy dispatched Jamaica 5-0 in the second match in Group C. At the Stade Auguste Delaune in Reims, Italy went ahead after 12 minutes when Cristiana Girelli sent Schneider the wrong way from the spot. The No.10 scored the second in the 24th minute following a dummy from AC Milan player Daniela Sabatino. It was the same story in the second half. First, Girelli completed her hat-trick before Aurora Galli got in on the act with two goals to make it 5-0. It was a great display from Coach Bertolini's side as they secured qualification to the round of 16 ahead of the match against Thaisa's Brazil side on Tuesday 18th June with kick-off at 21:00 CEST.
Out of the Rossonere players who were in action, it was another quality display from Manuela Giugliano who was involved in three of the four Italy goals with three assists and that’s a record for an Italian player at the Women's World Cup. Daniela Sabatino was unable to score against Jamaica despite taking three shots, one of which hit the bar. The Milan forward put in a gritty display, winning the most aerial duels of any player on the pitch. Valentina Bergamaschi also featured before coming off in the 64th minute for Aurora Galli and Valentina Giacinti came on with 18 minutes to go for Cristiana Girelli. Laura Fusetti and Linda Tucceri were on the bench.
