The Ivory Coast and Frank Jessie’s adventure at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations has come to an end at the quarter-final stage. At the Suez Stadium, the Elephants were knocked out by Algeria on penalties after the match had finished 1-1 over 90 minutes thanks to goals from Feghouli and Kodjia, with there also being nothing to separate the sides in extra time thereafter.
Misses from Bony and Sweet Die in the shootout proved fatal as Algeria booked their place in the semi-finals, where they’re set to come up against Nigeria.
To finish off, a mention for Rossoneri player Kessie: he played all 120 minutes of the match and coolly slotted home his side’s opening penalty.
