Çalhanoğlu’s Turkey drew 1-1 at the home of the reigning world champions in their match against France on matchday 8 of Group H in European qualifiers. Coach Güneş’ side earned an important point in Paris, and Hakan was at the heart of it all. Our Rossoneri number 10 came on at the start of the second half, and it was from his free kick in the 82nd minute that Ayhan headed home to cancel out Giroud’s goal for France. Thanks to the result, Turkey remain tied at the top of the group with France, with both sides on 19 points.
Meanwhile, Italy’s U21s recorded a victory in their race for EURO 2021 qualification, as Scamacca's first half goal was enough for a 1-0 win against Armenia in Yerevan. There were plenty of chances which went begging for the Azzurrini, as well as a scare at the death as their opponents hit the crossbar. However, Coach Nicolato’s side took home the precious three points to leave them in second place on seven, three behind Ireland in first who have played an extra game. Defender Matteo Gabbia remained on the bench.
