It was a positive evening for the two Rossoneri in action for their national teams yesterday evening. Hakan Çalhanoğlu's Turkey drew 0-0 against Iceland, a result which mathematically secured their spot at EURO 2020 with a game to spare. On Sunday 17 November, the Turks will face Andorra as they look to move above France (who have a match in Albania) and finish top of their group. Hakan, who started the game and remained on the pitch until the 87th minute, will no doubt be delighted that his country will be involved in the European Championship once more after their elimination during the group stage in 2016.
Ismaël Bennacer's Algeria also had cause for celebration as they comfortably beat Zambia. The AC Milan midfielder played the full 90 minutes as the Algerians ran out 5-0 winners, with Bounedjah bagging a brace and Bensebaini, Belaili and Soundani all getting on the scoresheet in their opening 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match in Group H. The final competition will take place in Cameroon.
