GABBIA PLAYS FROM THE START AS ITALY'S U21S SECURE LATE WIN

Five Rossoneri players took to the pitch on Thursday

On Thursday, Tommaso Pobega (a youngster who remains on AC Milan’s books) scored a brace as Italy’s U21s secured a crucial late victory to take a giant step towards the European Championship. The Azzurrini managed to beat Iceland 2-1 in Reykjavík in a match which saw Matteo Gabbia play 90 minutes and produce an excellent display full of character.

As regards other U21 sides who played yesterday, Leão (bench) and Dalot’s (68 minutes on the pitch) Portugal comfortably beat Belarus 3-0, while Díaz’s (substituted at half-time) Spain defeated the Faroe Islands 2-0.

Meanwhile, in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, Bennacer and Kessie both took to the pitch. The former played 90 minutes in Algeria’s 3-1 win against Zimbabwe, while the latter also stayed on for the duration of the match in the Ivory Coast’s 2-1 victory over Madagascar.

Rade Krunić wasn’t involved in Bosnia’s friendly defeat to Iran.
