Matteo Gabbia had an afternoon to remember. The Rossoneri defender started and captained Italy's Under-21 side for the second game running and celebrated mathematical qualification to U21 Euro 2021 with a 4-0 rout of Luxembourg. Sticking with an Azzurri theme, the Italy men's side - coached on the night by Alberico Evani in the absence of Mancini - beat Poland 2-0, with goals from Jorginho and Berardi.
Gigio Donnarumma played the full 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet - his third in five matches for his country in 2020. Italy, who take on Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo on Wednesday, are one step away from the Final Four. Various Rossoneri were also on the bench last night: Calabria, Romagnoli and Tonali.
In Turkey's 3-2 Nations League win against Russia in Group 3 of League B, Çalhanoğlu started and played 86 minutes. In Group 1, however, Norway's game against Romania was postponed. Two Rossoneri would have been involved in this fixture: Jens-Petter Hauge and Ciprian Tătăruşanu. It was a night to forget for Rade Krunić though, as he started and played 78 minutes of Bosnia's 3-1 loss to the Netherlands (in Italy's group). While the Oranje's qualification hopes are still alive, the Balkan nation's relegation is already certain.
There was further AC Milan involvement in Portugal U21's 2-1 win over Cyprus. Rafael Leão played the first half of the game before being brought off, while Diogo Dalot was an unused substitute. Simon Kjær, who captained his side as per usual, and Denmark beat Iceland 2-1 thanks to Eriksen's brace.
