It was a brilliant night for Çalhanoğlu, who built on his goal in Florence by displaying his very best qualities for his National Team. Yesterday evening, Turkey v Netherlands was played out in Group G of World Cup qualifying, with the Turks running out 4-2 winners. Our Hakan stole the show, scoring to make it 3-0 and providing an assist for Burak Yilmaz’s opener.
Díaz, meanwhile, was in action for Spain’s U21s in Group B of the 2021 European Under-21 Championship. Rahim spent 83 minutes on the pitch and set up Puado for the goal that made it 1-0. The Spaniards will be coming up against Italy next.
As for Krunić, he played 90 minutes as Bosnia and Herzegovina drew 2-2 with Finland, with all the goals coming in the second half. Ivaylo Petev fielded Rade in an attacking left-wing role.
Hauge also took to the field yesterday, featuring in Gibraltar v Norway. Jens Petter replaced Elyounoussi at half-time as the Norwegians emerged 3-0 victors. Alexis Saelemaekers remained on the bench during Belgium’s 3-1 win against Wales.
Italy’s U21s were held to a 1-1 draw by the Czech Republic, with Tonali and Gabbia both involved. Matteo played at centre-back throughout, while Sandro was sent off in the closing stages. The Azzurrini will next take to the pitch on Saturday, when they’ll face Brahim Díaz’s Spain. Tonali will be suspended for the clash.
