Rafael Leão and Portugal kicked off their UEFA Nations League campaign with a 1-1 draw in the Iberian derby against Spain in Group 2. It was a pulsating match at Real Betis' Estadio Benito Villamarín in Seville, in which the La Furia Roja took the lead in the 25th minute with a swooping counter-attack, finished off by Álvaro Morata. A Seleção drew level late on through Ricardo Horta, who converted from João Cancelo's assist.
Leão put in a good performance all told as he started and played 72 minutes, even coming close to scoring on a few occasions in the first half. Next, Portugal take on Switzerland - who lost 2-1 to Czechia - in Lisbon on Sunday the 5th.
France U21's Euro qualifying campaign continued unimpeded as Pierre Kalulu and Co beat Serbia 2-0 in Grenoble thanks to goals from Képhren Thuram and Amine Gouiri. Kululu played the full 90 and looked to have continued his stellar club form, putting in a strong and solid performance down the right flank.
France thus maintained their grip on top spot in Group H on 22 points, ahead of Ukraine (16 points with a game in hand). Les Bleus' next game is on Monday 6 June away to bottom-of-the-group Armenia.
