FLORENZI CAPTAIN, HONOURS EVEN BETWEEN ITALY AND GERMANY

Tonali starts in Bologna. Draw for Krunić's Bosnia, Bennacer and Ballo-Touré smile

From the eight players away, six Rossoneri enjoyed minutes in Saturday evening’s internationals.

Italy drew 1-1 against Germany on the opening matchday of the Nations League. Key standouts were right-back Alessandro Florenzi, captain for the night, and Mezzala Sandro Tonali, who was subbed off after 80 minutes. Davide Calabria, unfortunately, remained on the bench. A good draw and point for the Azzurri, as Pellegrini struck midway through the second half before Kimmich's immediate reply.

In the same Group 3 in League A, Fikayo Tomori didn't take part in the Hungary-England tie, where the hosts came out as surprise winners winning 1-0 with a goal by Szoboszlai in the 66th minute. That win takes them top of the group whilst England go bottom and must play catch up. In Group 3 of League A, Bosnia and Herzegovina drew 1-1 with Finland in Helsinki with a last gasp injury-time equaliser through Prevljak after Pukki had scored from the penalty spot. Our own man Rade Krunić played 57 minutes.

In the African Cup of Nations 2023 qualification stages, Bennacer of Algeria and Ballo-Touré of Senegal both got off to flying starts. Ismaël controlled the midfield in their 2-0 win over Angola in Algiers (goals from Mandi and Belaïli). Whilst Fodé got 77 minutes in their 3-1 win against Benin in Diamniadio. Both teams lead their groups F and L, respectively.

Finally, there was a 63-minute appearance for Serbian Marko Lazetić in the U19 European Championship qualification game between Ukraine and Serbia. It finished 1-1 in The Netherlands, moving both teams joint top to four points after two rounds in Group 6.
