South Korea came from behind to fight back against Portugal, who had taken the lead inside five minutes through Ricardo Horta, after former Rossoneri Dalot's assist, to win 2-1 at Education City Stadium. Already qualified for the next round after their victory over Uruguay, it was Fernando Santos' side first defeat of the group stages but ultimately had no bearing on their fate as they finish top of Group H.
Rafael Leão came off the bench after 65 minutes replacing Rúben Neves, getting just over half an hour of pitch time (injury-time included), his highest number of minutes so far in this World Cup. All of Portugal's three second-half attempts came after the introduction of the AC Milan star, including an effort by him. Furthermore, Rafa completed seven successful passes out of nine attempted during the game.
Focus now turns to the Round of 16 where Portugal will face Switzerland on Tuesday 6 December at 20.00 CET at the Lusail Stadium.
