The Under 21 European Championships are underway and the first day saw De Ketelaere and Vranckx's Belgium in action. At Mikheil Meskhi in Tbilisi, the young "Red Devils" drew 0-0 with the Netherlands. Lining up in a 4-3-3 formation, Charles played in the front three starting off out wide, but linked up with his teammates in various areas of the pitch. Captaining the team and playing the full 90 minutes, De Ketelaere's display was full of character and quality. Worthy of mention was a superb long ball forward from the left-hand side for Openda, whose effort was sadly kept out by Verbruggen. Instead, Aster was an unused substitute. Belgum U21 earned their first point in Group A sitting in second spot behind Georgia - their next opponents - in the table.
