GIROUD BRACE FOR FRANCE, QUALIFICATION FOR REIJNDERS AND OKAFOR

Two goals for Olivier in a record-breaking victory over Gibraltar. Switzerland and the Netherlands book their places in next summer's tournament

France certainly made the headlines during yesterday evening's international action, with Olivier Giroud very much involved. Indeed, the Rossoneri No.9 scored twice - finishing off a Griezmann assist and producing a wonderful bicycle kick - as Deschamps' side thumped Gibraltar 14-0. In Nice, Les Bleus set two records, recording both their highest win in history and the biggest-ever victory in Euro qualifying. It must also be noted that they were up against a Gibraltar side who played over an hour with ten men.

Thanks to his brace, Giroud, who replaced Thuram in the 67th minute, has extended his lead as France's all-time top goalscorer - he now has 56 to his name. On a record-breaking evening, Mike Maignan played the full 90 minutes between the sticks on his 13th France appearance, while Theo Hernández also started down the left flank and remained on the pitch throughout. The Rossoneri full-back contributed with an assist for Mbappé's second (out of three) goal of the night.

Beyond France, there was Rossoneri involvement as both the Netherlands and Switzerland celebrated Euro 2024 qualification. In Amsterdam, the Oranje booked their place at next summer's tournament with a 1-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland (a Weghorst goal in the eleventh minute), a result which secured second spot in Group B ahead of Greece. Tijjani Reijnders, who featured for 90 minutes before being replaced by Atalanta man Koopmeiners, showed real quality in the middle of the park for Koeman's men.

Switzerland were also celebrating at the end of the night: despite being held to a 1-1 draw against Kosovo in Basel, they're guaranteed to finish in the top two in Group I. Noah Okafor started in the middle of a front three and played 75 minutes on his 18th cap. Meanwhile, Malick Thiaw didn't feature as Germany lost 3-2 to Turkey in a friendly in Berlin.
