ROMAGNOLI: "WE'LL KEEP IMPROVING IN BERGAMO"

The words of our skipper at the Rossoneri Youth Sector Christmas Party

In the wonderful setting of the Rossoneri Youth Sector Christmas Party, First Team captain Alessio Romagnoli spoke to the microphones of Milan TV about his childhood memories and making his Serie A debut, as well as AC Milan’s current form and the prospects for the future of this growing group.

“I like being here, it’s a really nice annual event that allows the boys to meet their idols. It’s always moving for us players, I see myself as a kid, I never had the chance to go to events like these. The wish for them is that they can become footballers like us in the future.”

Sunday 22 December will see Milan in action in Bergamo, with Alessio celebrating a special personal milestone - seven years since he made his Serie A debut: “That was such a beautiful day, it was when my lifelong dream came true. I hope that my career lasts as long as possible.” He then moved on to the pride of wearing the captain’s armband for Milan:

“Being captain of this team and this club, as I’ve always said, is an honour for me, I’m really happy to hold this position. I’ll always try to give my best to help the group achieve bigger and bigger goals.”

Alessio also looked back on last Sunday’s draw with Sassuolo“We were hoping for a different result to keep up our good run of form. The path we’re on is the right one and it’s important that the group continues like this, then we’ll see where we are at the end of the season.”

The captain’s concentration, along with that of the whole team, is now turned to the team’s final official engagement of 2019 in the game against Atalanta, certainly a tough opponent: “We know that Atalanta are very strong, they’ve shown that, and they did fantastically to qualify for the Champions League round of 16. Milan however have an obligation to win every match. We’ll go to Bergamo looking to play the perfect game, to improve and to continue doing well in this period.”

A final word on the value and prospects of this young Rossoneri group“We know our value and clearly results help to consolidate that. We have a young but strong group, with a lot of quality players. I’m sorry that we didn’t get off to the best start, but we’re working hard and we’ll certainly do all we can to get back to the top.”
