AC Milan began the season with four attacking options: Leão, Pulisic, Gimenez and Nkunku. Following Gimenez's injury and subsequent surgery, Niclas Füllkrug was added to the squad in January. During the trip to Napoli - a match that ultimately ended in frustration after the hosts' late goal, with AC Milan failing to find the net - the Rossoneri had all five of their attacking options available for the first time this season. Much of AC Milan's hopes of finishing the final eight league fixtures of the campaign strongly rest on the forwards rediscovering their rhythm and returning to the scoresheet.
That injury crisis has now eased but there were even moments during the season - including the home match against Fiorentina and the away trip to Bologna - when AC Milan were forced to start with just a single recognised forward in the starting XI. While top form for a striker cannot simply be switched on mid-season, the chance for all five forwards to train together consistently and make themselves available from one match to the next offers the strongest possible foundation for AC Milan's attack to rediscover its cutting edge. In Serie A in 2026, Leão has scored four goals, Nkunku has three, and Füllkrug delivered a decisive strike against Lecce to seal all three points. Now, with spring underway, AC Milan will be looking to their forwards to reignite the team in the final stretch of the campaign.
