A fresh start. Milan Futuro is ready for its Serie D debut. Dropping a division hasn't affected the project, which aims to nurture the growth and development of young adults. After the first round was postponed due to international duty, the Rossoneri will kick off their 2025/26 campaign in the second round, playing away against Pavia on Sunday, 14 September at 15:00 CEST. Here's the Match Preview:
LATEST FROM MILAN FUTURO
After a difficult and disappointing season, the Club's first move was to keep Coach Oddo on the sidelines. The squad, as usual, has changed over the summer transfer window as there have been several new signings as well as departures, including the performances of Sala, the renewal of Victor, but also the departure of Quirini (who often played a decisive role last season) and Bonomi's serious injury. The Rossoneri have already kicked off their campaign in the Coppa Italia with a strong start, beating Trevigliese 2-0 and then Gozzano 1-0, qualifying for the round of 32. It will be important to give and get the most right from the start.
Coach Oddo explained, "We're at the starting line of the season, even though we've already played in the Coppa Italia in August, we know how important it is to get the season off to the right start with grit. This will be our first league match, even if it's technically the second matchday (rescheduled Milan Futuro v Leon, 17 September at 15:00 CEST at the Stadio Felice Chinetti in Solbiate Arno), we want to win and make an impact after all the work we've done so far. It will be an important and stimulating challenge. Pavia is a team with legacy, a passionate fanbase, and an environment that will definitely give their players an advantage."
"And we'll need to be ready for an intense match, with pace and physical duels. We're growing day by day: our goal is to develop Milan's youth so they can soon play for the First Team, but we do this through hard work, competitiveness, and the desire to win every single match. I expect to see focus, courage, and the right mentality. Playing teams like Pavia is the ideal test to gauge our players' maturity. I'm curious to see how far we've come in the individual development of a process that will last a year, but I'm also confident because I see a team full of enthusiasm, learning how to play each game with the right fighting mindset. Now it's up to us to demonstrate it on the pitch."
LATEST FROM PAVIA
The team, led by Coach Bellinzaghi, is fresh from a promotion after a strong campaign in Eccellenza. They hadn't played in Serie D since 2019 and have just returned, although their return hasn't been ideal: a 0-3 defeat away at Caldiero Terme, who were relegated from Serie C at the end of the 2024/25 season. Zerabato scored a hat-trick in last Sunday's defeat, a day to recover from. The domestic transfer market has been very active; the spotlight has mainly been on the former Ademagni, a striker known for his scoring ability, who already helped eliminate Vogherese in the Coppa Italia with a turnaround victory.
