Milan Futuro made a winning start to their Serie D Group B campaign, beating Caldiero Terme 4-3 at the Felice Chinetti in Solbiate Arno thanks to four goals from Ossola, Borsani, Vos and Plazzotta between the 55th and 68th minutes. It was an encouraging display from Coach Navarro's side, with several players born in 2007 and 2008 featuring. The Rossoneri responded strongly after the visitors took the lead just before halftime and then held firm against a late comeback from the Gialloverdi, who had already shown their attacking threat last season.
After the Premier League International Cup U21 match against Everton, Coach Navarro expressed his satisfaction with how well his players were taking on board the staff's instructions. A second consecutive victory, following the win at Goodison Park, provides another boost of confidence for an ambitious, long-term project focused on developing the players of tomorrow. Looking to the more immediate future, the Rossoneri will return to action on Saturday, September 12 at 6:00 PM in Palazzolo sull'Oglio, in the province of Brescia, away to Pro Palazzolo.

The Rossoneri created their first good opportunity as early as the 2nd minute: Ossola found Castiello, who made a well-timed run and fired goalward, but the visiting goalkeeper was equal to it. In the 19th minute, Zerbato won and stepped up to take a penalty, only for Pittarella to produce an excellent save. From the resulting corner, Baldini struck the post. The hosts responded by creating a series of chances. In the 34th minute, Ossola narrowly missed the target from outside the box, before Castiello and Ossola were both denied by Galli just a minute later. In the 37th minute, Sala burst forward and sent a right-footed effort just wide, while Borsani went close to breaking the deadlock in the 41st, narrowly missing the post. Caldiero Terme struck in the 48th minute, however, winning the ball back with a high press before Petdji Tsila fired home with his right foot to send the visitors into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
The goal opened the game up. In the 55th minute, captain Ossola guided a left-footed finish into the net to bring Milan Futuro level. Just a minute later, Borsani finished off a counterattack led by Mancioppi with power and precision to complete the turnaround. Vos then added his name to the scoresheet in the 61st minute, making it 3-1 with a left-footed strike that gave Galli no chance. Caldiero Terme's first response came through a long-range effort from Castelli, which Pittarella did brilliantly to keep out. The hosts made it 4-1 in the 68th minute through Plazzotta's left-footed finish, but the visitors pulled one back in the 78th when Castelli reacted quickest after Locati's long-range effort had struck the crossbar. Substitute Locati then made it 4-3 with a left-footed strike in the 87th minute. There would be no late equalizer, however, as Milan Futuro held on for a 4-3 victory.
POST-MATCH REACTION
"After our performance against Everton in international competition, it was important to get off to the right start in the league as well," Rossoneri captain Lorenzo Ossola told the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti's official channel. "We managed to show our character. We're a proactive team and always try to do what the Coach asks of us. He gives us the freedom, especially in the opposition half, to make the most of our qualities, and we try to take full advantage of the opportunities we create."
"The first half was difficult," added Tommaso Mancioppi. "The heat played a part too, and initially we weren't as sharp technically or with our pressing. After conceding at the end of the first half, we did really well to come back out with the right attitude, turn the game around and win despite a few difficulties toward the end. I think it was a great show of character. We came into this after playing at a historic stadium against a very different opponent, but we know how important it is to be able to adapt to every situation if we want to grow both as a team and individually. We did that well, adapting our playing principles to the game."
"The win against Everton gave us confidence," concluded Rossoneri goalkeeper Matteo Pittarella. "We're also building a close-knit group and working in the right way during the week, and you could see that today. I'm disappointed with the goals we conceded, but I'm happy because we're doing well as a team."
