Yet another difficult result to digest for Milan in what ended as a painful defeat at San Siro. After the win against SPAL earlier this week, the Rossoneri were unable to build any momentum in tonight’s 2-1 loss to Lazio following Correa’s late winner, despite being well in the game for the majority of the 90 minutes. There were positives to take from the performance, which showed a lot of desire and determination, but tonight Milan left without any points against a side who are also gunning for Champions League qualification. Despite all of this, the support from Milan’s fans was hugely impressive from start to finish, with 41,000 attending the game. Coach Pioli’s side were once again unable to get their season going, missing out on a great opportunity to climb up the table and remaining on 13 points after eleven games played. This defeat comes ahead of a huge week for the Rossoneri, with the side travelling to Turin next weekend where they face the league leaders Juventus.

    MATCH REPORT
The first chance fell to Lazio in the 5th minute as Immobile’s shot was saved but not held by Donnarumma, with the rebound smashed clear by Romagnoli. The Rossoneri however then sparked themselves into life, twice coming close to scoring: in the 21st minute Paquetá’s shot lacked the venom required, and in the 23rd Castillejo’s effort was smothered by Strakosha; the minute in between these two chances however saw Immobile’s shot rattle the crossbar down the other end. After all of these chances, it was Lazio who opened the scoring after 25 minutes as Immobile headed home Lazzari’s cross. However, Milan responded straight away as Piątek toed the ball goalwards, his touch deflecting into the net off Bastos to draw the game back level in the 28th minute. The Rossoneri then continued to threaten through Rebić and Çalhanoğlu. More chances fell to the home side after the break: Hernández tried it with his left in the 48th minute and Romagnoli’s header just flew over the bar ten minutes later. The game lost a bit of the energy it had shown in the first half but was still very much open: Leão had the ball nicked off his feet at the very last moment in the 55th minute, while Çalha’s thunderous free kick was pushed clear by the goalkeeper in the 66th. Despite all of this promise, the Biancocelesti then threw men down the other end. Acerbi was kept out, but Milan could do nothing to stop Correa from smashing Luis Alberto's through ball into the net for the winner in the 83rd minute. It just wasn’t meant to be for the Rossoneri tonight.
