Perhaps that’s the win that will represent a turning point. It’s certainly a very valuable result. If there were positive signs in Parma, the Rossoneri built upon them in Bologna to win a second consecutive away match. It finished 3-2 at the Dall’Ara thanks to Piątek's penalty and goals from Hernández and Bonaventura in what was a great team display. The side showed quality, conviction and efficiency as the Diavolo did a good job to beat a dangerous opponent while playing a mature game, striking at the right times to hit three goals. It was a great night, especially for Piątek who responded during a tough time to make the difference out on the pitch. The two goals conceded were the only negatives. After 15 matches in Serie A, AC Milan now have 20 points and are slowly making up ground on the Champions League places.
REPORT
After a lively start from Bologna, AC Milan broke the deadlock from the penalty spot with 15 minutes on the clock: Piątek was brought down in the box by Bani before the Polish striker then stepped up and coolly sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to give the Rossoneri the lead. In the 27th minute, Çalhanoğlu dragged a shot wide from the edge of the box. Pioli’s men had a spring in their step and looked particularly threatening in attack, with a second goal duly arriving after 32 minutes. It was Hernández who scored it: the Frenchman got on the end of Suso’s defence-splitting pass before firing past Skorupski from close range. However, it wasn’t all good news for Theo in the first half: in the 40th minute, he diverted the ball into his own net in somewhat unfortunate circumstances following a Bologna corner. Suddenly, the home side had hope, but the Rossoneri struck a blow at the beginning of the second half through Bonaventura: Jack received the ball in the 46th minute and saw his left-footed strike curl beautifully into the corner of the net. After 57 minutes, Skorupski was alert to keep out Çalhanoğlu’s volley. The Diavolo had control of proceedings, even if Sansone, Skov Olsen and Svanberg all had efforts for the home side. In the 84th minute, Bologna reduced the arrears once more, this time through Sansone's spot-kick following Hernández’s foul on Orsolini. With the match coming to a close, both Castillejo and Theo came close to making it four.
