It was a disappointing return to action for Milan Primavera, which fell 2-0 to Atalanta in the opening fixture of Matchday 6 of the Primavera 1 season. Goals early in each half, in the 10th and 48th minutes, shaped an otherwise even contest in which the Rossoneri more than held their own. The difference was Atalanta goalkeeper Sonzogni, who produced a standout performance. He made a string of saves, particularly in the second half, to keep AC Milan out and deny any chance of a comeback.
Despite a difficult run of results, with today's defeat the third straight loss without scoring, and the significant absences of suspended players Cissé and Nolli, Renna's side showed a positive, committed approach and never stopped trying to play. The key moments went Atalanta's way, with the hosts also coming off a difficult stretch. A busy October will offer plenty of chances to bounce back, starting next Saturday, October 17th at 11:00 AM CEST, at home against Cagliari.

MATCH REPORT
Ciapini had the first chance less than 40 seconds in, with his shot deflected behind for a corner. The Rossoneri looked to play out and push forward, especially through Anastasio, but Atalanta took the lead in the 10th minute through Ciapini, who was quick to capitalize on a mistake in the build-up. AC Milan responded in the 16th minute with a well-struck free kick from the edge of the box by Domniței, but Sonzogni got down to make the save. On 20 minutes, Bosisio hit the post with Catalano beaten, while five minutes later Renna was forced into his first change after Ibrahimović picked up an injury, with Geroli coming on. AC Milan began to raise the tempo, and in the 30th minute Tartaglia tested the Atalanta goalkeeper with a left-footed effort before an intense end to the half that produced few clear chances.
AC Milan made one change at the break, with La Mantia returning from a long injury layoff, but Atalanta doubled their lead in the 48th minute through a well-timed run and finish from Ruiz. Two goals down, the Rossoneri pushed higher up the pitch following the introductions of Zanaga and Zaramella. In the 61st minute, a scramble in the six-yard box ended with La Mantia seeing his effort blocked by the Atalanta defense. From the resulting corner, Zanaga fired from the edge of the box, forcing Sonzogni into a sharp reflex save to tip the ball over the bar. The Atalanta goalkeeper produced the highlight of the match in the 72nd minute, making a superb triple save on the goal line, with help from the post, to deny La Mantia, Anastasio and Domniței. Anastasio turned and shot wide in the 78th minute. Atalanta also threatened late on through Ruiz and substitute Berrima, but neither could beat Catalano. The final whistle came after four minutes of stoppage time, with the match ending 2-0.
