

Straight away a big match, a tough away fixture and a strong opponent. AC Milan’s Women’s First Team, coached by Maurizio Ganz, begin their Serie A league campaign this Sunday 15 September at 12:30 CEST as they travel to the Tre Fontane Stadium to face Roma away. They depart on this journey with hopes and goals aplenty, but from now on all that matters is their performance on the pitch. As we wait for that first whistle to kick things off, here are six fun facts about this league-opening fixture.
IN THE PAST
1- This will be the third match in Serie A between Roma and AC Milan after their two encounters last season.
2- The Rossonere won both of the two matches, with both teams scoring at home and away.
GENERAL STATISTICS
3- AC Milan, together with Juve, are one of only two opponents against whom Roma lost both matches in Serie A 2018/19.
4- Only Juve and Fiorentina (eight each) recorded more away wins than AC Milan (seven) in Serie A 2018/19.
PLAYER FOCUS
5- Valentina Giacinti scored more than once in a match on five occasions in the previous league campaign, the last of these coming against Roma in March 2019 as she netted two in Milan’s 4-1 win.
6- This is a match of extra significance for Manuela Giugliano, who now plays for Roma. She made 20 appearances for the Rossonere, scoring three goals in Serie A 2018/19. Two of these came in home matches, one against Roma.
