We face opponents who are in the midst of a relegation battle and who have already caused the Rossoneri a hard time this season in the first set of fixtures. Genoa arrive at San Siro with the Rossoneri looking to bounce back from their recent draw in Florence. With kick-off scheduled for 15:00 CET this Sunday, let’s take a look at ten facts about this game on matchday 26 of Serie A.

    PREVIOUS MATCHES AT SAN SIRO

1- Since 2007/08, AC Milan have won eight home games in Serie A against Genoa; they have only won more against Chievo and Cagliari (eleven wins). Furthermore, the Rossoneri have only lost one of their last 28 Serie A home games against Genoa (20W, 7D).

    HEAD-TO-HEAD

2- Since 2016/17, AC Milan have kept four clean sheets against Genoa in Serie A; in that time, Sassuolo are the only other team against whom the Rossoneri have gathered that many clean sheets.

    GENERAL STATISTICS

3- Both teams’ form since the new year has been remarkable: despite being third from bottom in the league, Genoa have gained eleven points from a possible 22 in 2020 (50%); while the Rossoneri have gained 15 from 36 (41.7%).

4- Only 28% of the goals that AC Milan have conceded have come before the 45th minute (nine out of 32), the lowest percentage in the league currently.

    PLAYER FOCUS

5- Ante Rebić is currently the Rossoneri’s topscorer in the league with six goals: all of those have come in 2020, with only Ilicić, Immobile and Ronaldo scoring more this calendar year. He has scored for three games in a row; the last Croatian to score in four consecutive Serie A games was Igo Budan in 2006 (five games) and the last Rossoneri player to do so was Piątek last season.

6- In seven Serie A games against Genoa, Zlatan Ibrahimović has scored three goals and provided three assists.

7- Franck Kessie’s last Serie A goal came in October against Genoa at the Marassi. The side from Liguria are one of four opponents, along with SPAL, Crotone and Cagliari, against whom the Ivorian has both scored and assisted in the same match.

8- Theo Hernández’s first Serie A goal came in the first fixture against Genoa.

9- Diego Laxalt made 111 appearances and scored seven goals for Genoa. On the other hand, Cristian Zapata made 111 appearances and scored three goals for AC Milan in Serie A.

    A FOCUS ON THE COACHES

10- Stefano Pioli has registered six wins, five draws and five defeats as a manager against Genoa in Serie A.
