Stats and trivia ahead of the matchday 28 showdown

AC Milan’s return to league football in Lecce was very encouraging, and now the team will be aiming to build on the positive signs seen at the Via Del Mare. Roma will be the visitors to San Siro later, a team that are ahead of the Rossoneri in the league standings. It’s a match-up involving two sides fighting it out to qualify for Europe and one of vital importance to Coach Pioli’s side. Here are some facts and figures relating to today’s match as the 17:15 CEST kick-off draws nearer.


1- Roma are the team that AC Milan have enjoyed the most wins against in Serie A (74).

2- AC Milan have scored in each of their last four league games against Roma.


3- Having beaten the Giallorossi at San Siro last season, AC Milan will be looking to register consecutive home wins against Roma in Serie A for the first time since 2004, when Carlo Ancelotti was in the Rossoneri dugout.


4- AC Milan have won two of their last four home games in Serie A (1D, 1L), as many as in their nine matches at San Siro prior to this (4D, 3L).

5- Coach Pioli’s side have found the net in each of their last nine league games: AC Milan haven’t enjoyed a longer run than this since October 2018 (eleven).


6- Two of AC Milan’s four goals in Lecce came about following crosses. Just two of the Rossoneri’s previous 28 goals this season had been scored in this fashion.

7- Three of AC Milan’s last five goals at home in Serie A have been scored through set-pieces. Prior to this, just one of their first eight goals at San Siro this campaign had arrived from dead ball situations.


8- In 2020, Ante Rebic has scored 44% of AC Milan’s goals in Serie A: seven out of 16.

9- Hakan Çalhanoğlu is the only AC Milan player to have scored and provided at least three assists in each of the last three Serie A seasons. In total, he’s contributed to 28 league goals during his spell at the Rossoneri (twelve goals, 16 assists), more than any other player currently in the squad.

10- During the 2013/14 season, Bryan Cristante played his first three Serie A games while on AC Milan’s books, also managing to get on the scoresheet for the first time in the Italian top flight against Atalanta in January 2014.
