The main statistics as tonight's showdown in Naples draws nearer

With the international break now over, the Rossoneri are ready to return to league action: at 20:45 CET this evening, Napoli v AC Milan will be played. Following the draw against Verona, the team will be looking to immediately return to winning ways against a team with big aspirations themselves. As we wait to cheer on the team, here are some facts and figures relating to the clash at the San Paolo.

- The most frequent scoreline between AC Milan and Napoli in Serie A has been 0-0: the teams have played out a goalless draw on 21 occasions (including in two of their last five meetings).

- AC Milan haven’t tasted defeat in 19 Serie A matches (W14, D5), the current longest unbeaten run in Serie A.

- AC Milan are unbeaten in 14 away fixtures in all competitions (W9, D5). The Rossoneri haven’t done better than this since February 2004, back when Carlo Ancelotti was in charge of the team (15 matches).

- AC Milan have scored for 27 matches in a row in Serie A. Their 29-game scoring streak in 1973 started after a 0-0 draw with Napoli and finished with a 2-1 victory against the same opponents.

- AC Milan have scored 16 goals from inside the area this season, more than any other side. However, Napoli have conceded the fewest from inside the box (four).

- Napoli (19) and AC Milan (17.1) are the two sides to have, on average, attempted the most shots so far this campaign. Taking into account the Top Five European leagues, the Partenopei are leading the way in this regard. The Rossoneri, meanwhile, sit fourth behind Lyon (18) and Leipzig (17.7).

- At the age of 39, Ibrahimović has scored eight goals in his first five appearances of a top-flight league season for the first time in his career.

- Zlatan Ibrahimović has found the net in each of his first five appearances in the league this campaign: since the three-points-for-a-win era began, only three players have scored in all of their first six matches at the start of a Serie A season: Gabriel Batistuta in 1994/95, Christian Vieri in 2002/03 and Krzysztof Piątek in 2018/19.

- Theo Hernández is the only AC Milan player to have remained on the pitch for all 630 minutes of the current Serie A campaign. The French full-back has already scored against Napoli at the San Paolo: he did so when the teams met in July.

- In their four previous encounters as coaches in Serie A, Pioli and Gattuso have both won once, with the other two matches ending in draws.
