AC Milan v Sassuolo is just hours away. The aim is to pick up a third consecutive win and consolidate second place in the league. Just a few days on from their home victory over Genoa, the Rossoneri will be taking to the San Siro pitch once again in pursuit of three points. Coach Pioli’s men can’t afford to stop now: only a win will do. Here are some stats and fun facts that you need to know ahead of this evening’s 18:30 CEST kick-off:

    DIRECT ENCOUNTERS

1- AC Milan and Sassuolo have met 15 times in Serie A. The Rossoneri’s record against the Neroverdi reads as follows: nine wins, two draws, four defeats.

2- AC Milan are unbeaten in nine league matches against Sassuolo (W7, D2). Prior to this, they’d lost four in six against the Neroverdi in the Italian top flight (W2).

    PREVIOUS MATCHES IN MILAN

3- After conceding in each of their first five home fixtures against Sassuolo in Serie A (W3, D1, L1), AC Milan have kept a clean sheet on the last two occasions they’ve faced the Neroverdi at San Siro (W1, D1).

    STATE OF PLAY

4- AC Milan have won their last two Serie A matches and haven’t been on a longer winning run than this since December, a streak that began with a victory over Sassuolo.

    GENERAL STATS

5- No team has found the net on more occasions than AC Milan in the first 30 minutes of play this season: 21 goals (including Rebić’s finish against Genoa), the same as Roma.

6- AC Milan are the team that have hit the woodwork the most times this season (19). Since Opta started collecting such data (from 2004/05), only once have the Rossoneri had more efforts come off the goal frame in a single Serie A campaign: 21 in 2019/20.

    PLAYER FOCUS

7- Taking into account the past two Serie A campaigns, Ante Rebić has scored 17 goals from matchday 20 onwards (he’s found the net 18 times for the Rossoneri in total). When penalties aren’t considered, only Cristiano Ronaldo (18) has bagged more in the second half of the season in the past two years.

8- Alexis Saelemaekers’s next appearance will be his 50th for AC Milan in all competitions. His last goal for the Rossoneri came against Sassuolo in the reverse fixture between the sides.
