10 FACTS ON AC MILAN v EMPOLI

We're back at San Siro with a Serie A matchday 29 clash coming up. The win away at Napoli saw AC Milan claim sole ownership of top spot in the table and the first test as outright league leaders is against Aurelio Andreazzoli's feisty Empoli side. It's a must-win game if the Rossoneri want to use the result from the Maradona as a springboard. The boys are in action tomorrow at 20:45 CET at San Siro but first, here are a few stats and facts on the game:

HEAD-TO-HEAD
1- This will be the 28th meeting between the two sides in the Italian top flight. The current record is 16 wins for the Rossoneri to the Azzurri's three. Eight draws complete the picture. All of the Tuscan side's wins over AC Milan have come at San Siro, the most recent of which was in 2017.

2- AC Milan have scored in ten consecutive matches against Empoli in Serie A, with an average of 2.3 goals per game. In that time, the Rossoneri have won five, drawn four and lost one against the Azzurri.

CURRENT FORM
3- After their 1-0 win over Napoli last time out, AC Milan could keep two consecutive clean sheets in Serie A for the second time this season. The first instance was in December with a 3-0 win away at Genoa and a 2-0 victory against Salernitana. 

GENERAL STATS
4- On the one hand, AC Milan have the best attack in the first 15 minutes of games in the league this season with eleven goals. On the other hand, no team has conceded more than Empoli in the same time period (also eleven).

PLAYER STATS
5- Against Empoli, Olivier Giroud could score in two consecutive Serie A matches for the first time this season. The striker, who is currently on eight league goals, could become only the third player from France to reach double figures for goals in a single Serie A season with AC Milan, after Jean-Pierre Papin (13 goals in 1992/93) and Jérémy Ménez (16 in 2014/15).

6- If Zlatan Ibrahimović were to score, he would become the second-oldest goalscorer in Serie A history, moving ahead of Silvio Pioli, who, in 1954, scored at the age of 40 years and 131 days. Ahead of the Swede would then be only former AC Milan star Alessandro Costacurta, who scored in 2007 at the age of 41 years and 25 days.   

7- AC Milan v Empoli will also be a meeting between the player who has completed the most dribbles in Serie A this season (Rafael Leão, 67) and the defender with the most completed dribbles in the current campaign (Petar Stojanović, 45).

8- There are two former Empoli players in Rossoneri's ranks: Ismaël Bennacer, who made his Serie A debut with the Tuscan side and made 37 appearances in 2018/19, and Rade Krunić - 80 games and eight goals for the Azzurri between 2015 and 2019.

9- Franck Kessie has a better goal average against Empoli than he does against any other side in Serie A: four goals in five games (including a brace in the reverse fixture) for an average of a goal every 94 minutes.
