“Until it’s all over, we’ll keep believing”: this was what Coach Morace had to say immediately after her team’s defeat to Juventus in the Coppa Italia, and their latest victory against Florentia only reinforces this mentality. A  precious result secured against a side who defended well during the first half and who also threatened Maria Korenciova on occasion. One that also keeps Sabatino and co. in contention at the top of the table with Juventus and Fiorentina.

    THE REPORT

The Rossonere started well on Sunday, with a diving header from Giacini just missing the target after a cross from Alborghetti. In response, Florentia then missed two good chances to take the lead midway through the first half, initially through Salvatori Rinaldi in the 23rd minute before Korenciova then kept out Giulia Orlandi three minutes later. The opening period concluded with an opportunity for Milan, yet Tucceri’s long-range effort went wide.

Come the second half, after a balanced opening, the game’s decisive blow was struck. The goal stemmed from a powerful cross from Nora Heroum, which deflected off Rodella and past Marchitelli in the 52nd minute. Milan thought they’d doubled their lead in the 57th minute but Tucceri’s strike was ruled out for offside. The Rossonere’s No.27 then had another effort in the 56th minute but it failed to find the back of the net. As the game entered its latter stages, Florentia’s Marchitelli proved to be an effective obstacle in between the sticks, with the game eventually finishing 1-0.
