AC Milan enjoyed a positive first half away to Orobica on Saturday before holding onto their 1-0 lead after the interval to secure all three points. Valentina Giacinti’s 18th strike of the season proved decisive, as she solidified her spot as the top scorer in Serie A Women. As a result of this victory, the Rossonere remain third in the league standings and they’ll now be keeping a close eye on the clash between Juve and Fiorentina tomorrow. In terms of our remaining three games of the season, Milan will be taking on Roma and Chievo at home, while in between they’ll also face Atalanta in Bergamo.
THE REPORT
The Rossonere started strong out on the artificial pitch at the Stadio Giacinto Facchetti, with Tucceri enjoying our first chance after just 44 seconds. Giacinti was then involved in the fourth minute although the Milan attacker failed to hit the target. With our girls enjoying the majority of possession and passing it around nicely in midfield, we then had yet another chance through Giacinti on the quarter-hour mark. Nine minutes later we struck the right note, with Giacinti receiving possession in the middle before firing the ball accurately past Lonni. After the interval, substitute Coda was immediately involved but her effort wasn’t good enough. This was then followed by Barcella hitting the post from a free-kick, although Korenciova had it covered. With excitement few and far between as the game wore on, Longo had a rare chance to double Milan’s lead but failed to find the back of the net. The final whistle soon arrived with the away side securing a vital set of three points.
