A coming together of football and basketball. This morning at Vismara, the Women's First Team gave a warm welcome to the players of the Olimpia Milano basketball team. The Milanese side captained by Andrea Cinciarini, a huge AC Milan fan himself, were at the Rossonere Training Centre for some athletic sessions. Greetings and warm wishes for their respective seasons were exchanged, with a group photo of the two teams taken before they each returned to work. This was the first training session of the week for the Rossonere after their time at the WomensCup in Hägendorf, Switzerland, and they were rejoined today by Colombian striker Lady Andrade. Led by Maurizio Ganz, the girls gathered at 09:45 CEST for a warm-up in the gym. They then moved out onto pitch number five for some technical drills with a focus on passing and ball control.
The team then moved onto exercises with and without the ball aimed at improving physical performance. The exercises on ball possession were run by the Coach for one group whilst the others worked with the athletic coach. The session ended with a game on a smaller-sized pitch. The Women's First Team will be involved in 3 friendly matches in the weeks leading up to the start of their league campaign on 14 September. The games will take place on Saturday 24 August at 17:00 CEST: Milan v Cittadella at the Vismara Training Centre; Saturday 31 August at 18:30 CEST: Como v Milan in Cantù; and Saturday 7 September at 18:00 CEST: Milan v Napoli in Sedriano.
