After a great opening fixture at Roma, the Rossonere picked up another big win to kick off at home. At the Stadio Brianteo in Monza, Ganz’s side beat Orobica 4-1 after finishing the game strongly. After taking the lead in the first half through Bergamaschi, the Rossonere were pegged back in the second half by a Merli goal before kicking on. Deborah Salvatori Rinaldi scored her first league goal, the prolific Valentina Giacinti struck again before Stine Hovland hit her first to make it 4-1. Maurizio Ganz’s side remain on full points with six points from two games with seven goals scored and one conceded. Now, it’s time for the international break and three weeks without league football before the derby against Inter.

    MATCH REPORT

Milan started very well and Bergamaschi opened the scoring eight minutes in. From a Valentina Giacinti cross, Pilato came off her line poorly to give Valentina a tap-in. Not happy with the one-goal lead, Milan kept attacking. The ball hit the corner in the 11th minute before two Giacinti chances in the 18th and 20th minutes as she went close to a second. Orobica came to life through Merli who got around Korenciova before striking into the side-netting. At the end of the first half, Giacinti hit the post with the goalkeeper beaten.

Orobica came into the game more after the break before equalising in the 65th minute. Merli beat the onrushing Korenciova to level. Parity lasted for little longer than a minute. In the 66th minute, Salvatori Rinaldi restored the lead with an accurate strike into the corner. The visitors were shaken and the Rossonere in control. In the 74th minute, Bergamaschi got away on the right and played a perfect cross from which Giacinti headed in to make it 3-1. In stoppage time, Bergamaschi provided another assist for Stine Hovland who headed beyond Pilato to add shine to the scoreline.
