A COMEBACK DRAW FOR AC MILAN WOMEN

Maurizio Ganz's side are coming back from Florence with a hard-fought point after putting in great effort to come from behind. The draw preserves AC Milan's unbeaten record but sees the team drop down to second behind Juventus, their next opponents. It was 1-1 in the end thanks to a goal from Deborah Salvatori Rinaldi, who scored her third of the season. This was a decent point in Florence, especially after such a competitive, togh and hard-fought match. After four straight wins, AC Milan might have dropped points, but they showed maturity and unity when they weren't at their best. Focus now turns to the next big match against league leaders Juventus and the side will have to show the same attitude while looking to claim the biggest scalp of all.

After just two minutes, Valentina Bergamaschi hit the post from a long way out with Ohrstrom completely beaten. AC Milan continued to push forward as Hovland headed Tucceri Cimini’s free kick inches wide five minutes later. Just as it looked like AC Milan would take complete control of the game, Fiorentina stepped things up and looked to stamp their mark on proceedings. With 33 minutes on the clock, the hosts took the lead through Alia Guagni, who took full advantage of Jane’s mistake and lobbed the ball over Korenciova. There was then a period where the Rossonere lost a bit of their solidity, but Ganz’s girls did manage to go up a gear after the restart. In the 55th minute, Deborah Salvatori Rinaldi got to the ball ahead of Ohrstrom and equalised in acrobatic fashion. Fiorentina came close to restoring their lead in the 63rd minute through Cordia, whose great strike was saved by Korenciova. The Rossonere threatened in the final stages through Salvatori Rinaldi on the counter, but the latter’s effort was off target.
