AC Milan Women suffered their first defeat of the season at the Stadio Santa Lucia in San Gimignano as Florentia ran out 2-1 winners. It's a blow for the Rossonere, especially given that the home side came from behind to win it late on in stoppage time. Indeed, the Diavolo went ahead thanks to captain Giacinti's goal, but Kelly struck twice to turn the game around. A draw would have been frustrating, but losing is so much worse. The match wasn't a simple one nor was it particularly easy on the eye, but the final result was very much undeserved. That's not to downplay the great effort put in by the opposition, but this defeat hurts given that it stopped AC Milan from returning to the top of the league for a few hours at least. The table remains the same and now, after matchday eight and in anticipation of the clash between high-flying Juventus and Fiorentina, the Rossonere also risk losing second place. Despite this, Coach Ganz's girls will be looking to put this loss behind them quickly and go again, showing even more of a ruthless streak and the same belief. This is what's required.

MATCH REPORT
AC Milan Women made a good start: in the tenth minute, Bergamaschi tested Tampieri with a first-time strike. Eight minutes later, Giacinti found the net but was in an offside position. After 25 minutes, Heroum had a go, but her effort was weak. The Rossonere were the better side in a match devoid of any real drama. In the second half, following a Carissimi header which went just wide in the 51st minute, the goals arrived. With 55 minutes on the clock, AC Milan were awarded a penalty for a foul on Giacinti. Valentina then stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to give the Rossonere the lead. In the 61st minute, the referee pointed to the spot again, this time for Florentia following Tucceri Cimini's handball in the box. Kelly powerfully dispatched from twelve yards to level matters. The game started to liven up, changes were made, chances were created: Tucceri Cimini came close on two occasions after 69 and 80 minutes with two left-footed efforts, while Žigić and Giacini were also out of luck late on. And then, in the 94th minute, the home team struck on the counter through Kelly, whose close-range finish left AC Milan tasting a bitter defeat.
